Day 12
Middle West Ported Pumpernickel Rye

Why I chose it: I was intrigued by lots of attributes about this bottle. It caught my eye because a friendly salesman told me that Middle West had partnering with Jim Rutledge, formerly of Four Roses. Turns out it was on another bottle, but the fact that the guys at this distillery are taking to Jim is a good sign. On top of that, I was intrigued by the unique pumpernickel rye as well as the Tawny Port finish. Distilled in OH, this represents our third state of production (KY and IN previously). Will it be any good from a craft distiller I've never heard of? Who knows. But we won't know if we don't try it!
