Day 2

2X0, The Phoenix Blend

Style: Blend of Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Mashbill: According to thebourbonculture, this is sourced from two separate distilleries in Kentucky. One is a 6-year-old high rye (35% rye) bourbon mash bill and the other bourbon mash bill uses a “moderate amount of rye” which is claimed to be around 16-18%.

Aged: No Age Statement. Rumored to be a mix of 2 sets of barrels, the younger batch being 6 years old.

Proof: 104

Cost: MSRP $99.99. Picked up for $94.99

Why I chose it: 2XO is a new brand created by Dixon Dedman, the former Kentucky Owl distiller. The name and brand represent "two times oaked", so their sourced blends are finished in secondary charred barrels. This bottle is an opportunity to try the brand's first offering, the Phoenix Blend. 2XO has since launched multiple follow-up offers. In addition to trying a newer brand, I wanted to share the opportunity to get to know a double oaked product.
