Day 16
Whistle Pig
10-Year Single Barrel Rye

Selected by Binny's

Style: Single barrel of Straight Rye

Mashbills: Undisclosed (Likely Rye, possibly Corn, Malted Barley)

Aged: 10 Years

Proof: 108.8

Cost: Paid $98.99

Why I chose it: Whistle Pig is another popular and praised producer of high-aged rye whiskies. Although undisclosed, the light color and lack of oak char tones lead us to believe this is Alberta Rye sourced from Canada. We know for sure that it's finished and produced in Vermont, making this our fourth state of production so far (joining IN, KY, and OH). These come in 2 variations; small batches at 100 proof and single barrels bottled at higher proof (108.8 in our case). I recommend the extra $10-20 to upgrade to the single barrels. Binny's gives their bottles names and titled this barrel "Binny's Pickle Meat", which is why I chose this compared to the others offered (and I liked the flavor described). Cheers to our neighbors to the north!
