Day 22

Bull Run
American Whiskey

Style: Batch of American Whiskey finished in pinot noir casks

Mashbills: 99% Corn and 1% malted barley

Aged: 15 years + 23 months secondary aging

Proof: 125.38

Cost: $60.00

Why I chose it: I had not heard of Bull Run until I saw it on a menu at a local whiskey bar (Maize + Mash). I purchased a pour and enjoyed the uniqueness of the pinot noir finish alongside a very high proof well-aged product. Having enjoyed that pour, I thought this would fit in nicely in our calendar as it is produced in another state (Oregon) and lets us taste another whiskey finished in something else (believe it or not, this is only the second finished bottle). This particular expression was selected by the Belly Bourbon Hospitality group (proprietors of Maize + Mash). The producer of this distillate is not known; however, Bull Run has only been an entity since 2010, making this likely to have come from someone else.
