Day 8
Old Louisville 8-year Single Barrel Bourbon
Style: Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Mashbill: 78% Corn, 10% Rye, 12% Malted Barley
Aged: 8 Years
Proof: 119.6
MRSP: $99
Why I chose it: I have never actually had an Old Louisville. I was picking up some of the other bottles in the calendar from Gold Eagle Wine & Spirits and had the pleasure of walking the aisles with Jake, the owner. This fantastic store handles the retail sales of our barrel picks from the Adventures Club Bourbon Society (the whiskey club I belong to). This didn't jump out to me at first, as I saw this was a pick from another bourbon club that I know nothing about (Lake County Whiskey Club). Jake assured me he was a part of the pick and highly recommended it for us to try. So was he right? Happy to support a couple of small family-owned and operated businesses to find out.
This juice originated in Bardstown, and given the mashbill, it's almost certainly from Heaven Hill. This should come across very similar to day 2's bottle (same age and mashbill, slightly lower proof), but without the double oak characteristics.
